Sam Ruby commented on WHIMSY-92:
--------------------------------
[[email protected]] it occurs to me that I can flip that around. I can scan the
board mail archives for messages that look like NOTICE messages *AND* copy a
private PMC list. At a minimum, I can display subject lines and links to the
copy of those messages on the PMC list for visitors to the roster tool that are
either ASF members or members of the associated PMC.
The confirmation dialog for adding a PMC member can also include a reminder
(and if we really want to be anal about it, a checkbox) ensuring that the
person is aware of the notice requirements. And possibly even a warning if no
notices contain names that are "sufficiently close" to the public name of the
individual, and have aged 72 hours or more.
A link to the notice message can be added to the committee-info.txt commit
messages.
And, finally, the confirmation dialog can also serve a dual purpose, and be
used to craft a notice that is sent on the user's behalf.

> The PMC new member process is quite involved. It might make sense to automate
> most of it.
> Whimsy can potentially automate some of the checks, e.g. has the NOTICE file
> been received by the board archive.
