You should check it out. One should only update from www.openoffice.org, which, as you say, redirects to Sourceforge servers. It is possible that the earlier version of OpenOffice was froom an irregular site and that it or something something has hijacked your address resolution. I've just tested the above link on my computer and it leads to the correct versions, with no intrusive add-ons.
