One should only update from www.openoffice.org, which, as you say, redirects to 
Sourceforge servers. It is possible that the earlier version of OpenOffice was 
froom an irregular site and that it or something something has hijacked your 
address resolution. I've just tested the above link on my computer and it leads 
to the correct versions, with no intrusive add-ons.

In the circumstances you report I advise removal of the "bad" OpenOffice, 
followed by an indepth virus and malware scan with latest definitions, and then 
a fresh download from the above URL, checking its MD5Sum to verify that it is 
in fact correct.
