Hello.
Yesterday evening I got access to the server on which SpreadOOo will run, so the project is getting more tangible. Today or tomorrow I will start setting up the drupal/civicspace system, my SpreadOOo-skin is already "viewable", too.
Awesome! :)
Some people in the list here wanted the spreadOOo-page to be mulitliangual, since I am German myself I propose this idea, so I'll try to get the i18n-module for drupal working.
Which languages shell I inlcude at the beginning? English, German, French and Spanish?
Hmmmm... do the Native-Lang projects know about this yet? I reckon that if we tell them, they might be able to organise some people to help (perhaps a notice on their respective web sites?), and that could get things "up and running".
What about the homepage?
Shell we put an intro page (something like "Welcome at SpreadOpenOffice.org", some nation flags for language selection and a download link) or directly the "normal" drupal homepage (in English, or, if possible, in the language transfered by the browser)?
Sounds like an *excellent* idea. :)
I don't know wether someone of you have dealt with civicspace/drupal, but if, which modules do you want to have includet?
The must-haves would be the blog system, forum, polls, comments.
Then the affiliate system .. there is a drupal module available for this, but until now I haven't got it work .. but I'll keep trying, it HAS to do ..
Someone knows how spreadfirefox does it? A total hand-coded module or the one from the drupal page? I didnt find anything about it on spreadfirefox.
The OSUOSL guys also host the SpreadFireFox servers, so they'd likely know the right people there to ask. Want to ask them, or did you want me (or Colin, etc) to?
What about the links in the top navigation bar? Which ones shell I put there?
Maybe "Why OpenOffice.org?", "Volunteer", "Graphics", "Forums", "Blogs", "FAQ"..
but it's just a first propsal..
Heh Heh Heh
Not knowing any better, I'd do all of them. ;)
When a beta-version of the site is running, we can start filling it with content. Maybe you have then also some ideas to improve the design.
Absolutely, first we need to get it up and running, then see what's best from there!
Good going Frando!
Regard and best wishes,
Justin Clift
best regards, Frando
