Hi,
ok it's done now, and the accordion idea looks really nice :-D thanks Dirk!
for the ASF branding links I went with a table on LeftMenuFooter, it
doesn't look bad, but anyone with a better idea feel free to go with it.
As for requesting the site. Currently we're waiting at INFRA-13716 to be
moved away from a ASF CMS based site to a JBake-based one. I'd prefer to
wait for this to be done before requesting anything else, in order to avoid
any confusion down the road.
My suggestion is, once this is done, we request that
http://jspwiki.apache.org/site serves our wiki, so we can put a redirect to
it from the main index.html of the JBake-based site. jspwiki-wiki.a.o would
be also retained, so any old link to our wiki isn't lost.
sounds reasonable?
Sorry I dropped the ball a bit on this one—this all looks and sounds
great. A bit late, but can you please let me know if there's anything
you need a hand with at this stage?
Cheers,
Dave

Hi Dirk,
I like very much the accordion idea! I'll play with it and come back here
when finished.

Hi Pablo,
- left menu links:
You could use %%accordion for the different sections in the left-menu.
This will only make the User section fully expanded.
The other sections can then be opened with a click.
To keep the markup simple & readable, you can use ordinary list
bullets
for the different links; like so:
%%accordion
!Users
%%list-unstyled

- apache branding:
LeftMenuFooter would probably be the best place to add this info.
We should avoid putting such info in the template jsp's, cause that
would make it less easy to change by a user/admin of a JSPWiki site.

Hi!
finally, just've finished migrating the content from the site to
jspwiki-wiki.a.o. There are a couple of things pending, though:
- left menu links: I'd like to retain the structure of jspwiki.a.o, but
that would imply losing some actual links on jspwiki-wiki.a.o's LeftMenu
page. Also, with LeftMenuFooter inserting a couple of plugins, it would
also mean that the left menu would normally *not* fit on screen..
thoughts
on how to solve? perhaps with a style to make links smaller? or perhaps
reorganize them?
- ASF links: jspwiki.a.o has some links on the top right corner and at
the
end of the left menu which have to be there to comply with Apache
Branding
guidelines (they must exist and be prominently visible, that is, not at
the
bottom of the page). Thoughts on how to place them? would a slightly
customized template be enough?

ps: I'm a couple of days late on presenting this quarter's board report,
most probably will came up with a draft tomorrow morning, and would
like to
send it the day after at most..

Hi Dave,
(apologies on the delayed response)
Don't know if it is too late, but I'd like to ask for a couple of
changes:
- first, make the old site so it could still be accesible through,
f.ex.,
http://jspwiki.apache.org/old
just in case there's a (wiki) VM failure, we could point to the old
one.
As a bonus, the javadocs
would still be accesible through http://jspwiki.apache.org/apidocs
- second, make the wiki available through both
http://jspwiki.apache.org
and http://jspwiki-wiki.apache.org.
Make the first the "official" link for wiki docs, keep the second
so we
don't have dead links
(I prefer jspwiki.a.o over jspwiki-wiki.a.o, which seems redundant
to
me). In case this combination
is not feasable, keep the wiki under http://jspwiki.apache.org/docs
(or
whatever), and place a redirect
under jspwiki.a.o/index.html to http://jspwiki.apache.org/docs so
it
"feels" as the project's home page.
sounds reasonable? WDYT?
The first change and the redirect part on the second are very easily
doable under the current CMS. As for
other part, I know I volunteered for it, but hadn't made any progress
yet,
shame on me :-/ In any case, please
feel free to start migrating the content! Any progress in there will
be
better than my current no-progress at it.
Last, in case all of the above sounds reasonable, I'll request a new
git
repo to hold the site in there, actually
it's still placed on svn..
best regards + thanks for bringing this up!

Hi All,
So it sounds like we can go ahead with requesting a redirect from
infra
to point jspwiki.apache.org at jspwiki-wiki.apache.org? Happy to get
this underway and take on migrating any content from the old site. As
far as I'm aware, the only outstanding consideration is the
javadocs—I
don't know enough about this to suggest where to host these, so
perhaps
someone can look into this?

Hi,
(a little bit late, but) in that case wouldn't it be easier to
ask
infra
to
point jspwiki.apache.org directly to the wiki? There are some
brand
requirements we should follow (most of the upper right links, the
Apache
section on the left, and the footer, if I recall correctly) and
we
would
have to find a place for javadocs, but this shouldn't be a
showstopper.
My only concern with this is having the wiki always up, the CMS
is
clunkier
to update, but it is always up, whereas the wiki VM has had a few
small
(=hours) hiccups. But other than that, it's how jspwiki.org
was/is
setup,
so I'm not opposed to switch to a full wiki homepage.
thoughts?

Hi Harry,
technical issues aside, I'm not sure I'm following what you're
proposing,
if replacing jspwiki.a.o with our wiki, or if having something
like
jspwiki.a.o/wiki redirecting to the wiki?
for the former I think it would be easier to ask infra to
directly
point
jspwiki.a.o to the wiki vm.
for the latter I think I'd be able to make a quick commit this
afternoon/weekend, it's very simimlar to what we're currently
doing
with
the javadocs; it's matter of adding an entry to
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/jspwiki/site/trunk/
content/extpaths.txt
and then commiting the desired directory+file to
https://svn.apache.org/repos/infra/websites/production/
jspwiki/content/
..

Hi Dave,
IMO there isn't any showstopper, only that generating the
site
locally
is a
bit complicated. The site, with instructions on how to build
it
locally,
is
in SVN at https://svn.apache.org/repos/a
sf/jspwiki/site/trunk/
with
the
old
template sitting at
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/jspwiki/site/trunk/template
s/
That said, as we're not updating very often the site, rather
than
building
locally, perhaps is easier to use the CMS bookmarklet and
keep
pushing
changes to staging area until the new template is ready to
go.
Regarding the different url for jspwiki-wiki.a.o, don't
remember
the
specifics but, long story short, when setting up the vm to
host
the
wiki,
the Infra team found easier to set it up at the actual
location
and,
as
our
request took several months to complete (delays on both
sides),
we
didn't
push to have the wiki inside jspwiki.a.o.

Quick question, the homepage for JSPWiki is currently:

any
show-stopper preventing switching this to Haddock?

sit

that's
