Do you really want to include so many new and therefore little tested
changes in the new release?

If we want to include LDAP API 2.1.8, we have little choice...

Why not make all those changes after the release instead, so that they
get a bit of testing before getting included in the next release after?

ATM, I'm trying to get up to speed with Studio build (I haven't built it for years...), but yes, we can got with a release right away.

This is the reason I created a branch: being able to play around.

And this is useful: for some reason, I'm able to bump up commons-text from 1.9 to 1.10.0, but if I try with 1.15.0 (or any version from 1.11.0 to 1.15.0), I get an error like:

[ERROR] Failed to resolve target definition /home/elecharny/apacheds/directory-studio-clean/eclipse-trgt-platform/org.apache.directory.studio.eclipse-trgt-platform.target: Could not find "org.apache.commons.commons-text/1.11.0" in the repositories of the current location -> [Help 1]

I'm chasing this issue atm... Seems pretty weird :/

(In the end, you're the one doing the work so you just do what you feel
is right, I'll be very happy so see a new release at all, but this plan
strikes me as a bit odd so I just wanted to comment on that.)

Cheers // Fredrik Roubert
