Maven build works fine on Windows 8.1 with JDK 1.7. Artifacts look good. Like Gary I have still problems with understanding the background and purpose of this component based on the documentation on the site - although it already has improved. However, I agree with others that this is not blocking for the release and can be changed later - especially as Bruno has offered his help in this area.
One point I noted is that the md5 files are missing in the dist area. I assume they are required, aren't they?
