org.apache.commons.nio ? :-) Seriously, commons.io2 seems better to me. These days, version numbers are preceded by a dash in almost all cases, eg commons.io2-3.0.1 which looks ok to me. I agree with all your other points BTW..no jar hell, no project proliferation.
