I agree with Peter. Between 1.4 and 1.5 we didn't have that long lived branch and so accumulated a lot of stuff to warrant a new .1, and shortly after we released 1.5 the HEAD became quite different from the last release. Neither of both has happened to HEAD yet AFAIK.
No need to keep this discussion on the PMC list, BTW (even if I won't read the dev list for the next two weeks ;-)
