A first step in improving the connected experience for Firefox Accounts users is getting more people with multiple devices using Firefox. We have a marketing snippet after successful sign up that shows links to the App and Play Stores. I believe we could also add functionality to SMS the link to a mobile device, with a smallish amount of effort.
Basket already has a SMS endpoint, which is currently used on the Firefox for Android landing page. We could add a form to the sign up success page, possibly under an able experiment. It'd also be useful for the message that is sent to include a link which redirects to the correct store based on operating system. A short list of what is needed: - UI of the form - Adding the form to the marketing snippet in content-server - Designing the wording of the text message - Having a link with OS detection and redirection - Possible able experiment thingies - Metrics to determine if a FxA enters their phone number, whether that Account shows up on a second (mobile) device shortly after.
