One comment to the thread subject, rather than to any particular post. We would do well to remember that trying to participate in a mailing list or a newsgroup with an MUA is an inherent contradiction in purpose.
Put another way, ordinary e-mail and postings to newsgroups and mailing lists are two rather different kinds of things, even though they share certain common features and have certain features that appear the same but are not.
