I tried manually using the above numbers to create a modeline, and this works. Here's what I just tried, and is now in my "Monitor" config sections for the external LCD: Modeline "1600x1200" 162 1600 1664 1856 2160 1200 1201 1204 1250 I am home sweet home, thanks to all, especially Alvin. For those who have a similar problem (eg. perhaps with Viewsonic VX2000, VP2290b (3840x2400:)), VP230mb, VP201B or VP211b, the Samsung 213T, Mitsubishi DV201B, or BENQ FP2081 or 2091 (all 21"+ LCDs that can do 1600x1200): - run XFree86 -configure, and then run with the generated file - check the logs to find out the "Supported Additional Video Mode" - munge the horizontal and vertical sync values into a modeline, which should be similar to the one I've created above. good luck, and thanks again zen -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
