i've been trying to get the airport card on my g4 tibook to work with a linksys wap11. this tibook dual boots with OS X and the card works fine with that wap under OS X.
on debian (sid) the connection is made between the card and wap and i'm able to ssh/scp/ping etc, but i can't browse with either galeon or lynx. for example: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ping www.google.com PING www.google.com (216.239.39.101): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 216.239.39.101: icmp_seq=0 ttl=53 time=123.9 ms 64 bytes from 216.239.39.101: icmp_seq=1 ttl=53 time=96.0 ms 64 bytes from 216.239.39.101: icmp_seq=2 ttl=53 time=99.6 ms 64 bytes from 216.239.39.101: icmp_seq=3 ttl=53 time=100.3 ms --- www.google.com ping statistics --- 4 packets transmitted, 4 packets received, 0% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max = 96.0/104.9/123.9 ms [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lynx www.google.com Looking up www.google.com first Looking up www.google.com www.google.com Making HTTP connection to www.google.com Sending HTTP request. HTTP request sent; waiting for response. Alert!: Unexpected network read error; connection aborted. Can't Access `http://www.google.com/' Alert!: Unable to access document. i saw a while back a thread on similar issues (slow/time-out'd browsing) but didn't see any workarounds/fixes. i'm wondering if anyone has found a fix for this or knows of the cause? short of that, i've got an pcmcia wireless card on another laptop (wcp11) that i'm thinking of setting up on the tibook with debian and would be curious if anyone else has gone this route? tia, serge -- Serge Rey http://typhoon.sdsu.edu/rey.html A random variable is the soul of an observation...
