This is only a minor bug; think of it as a spelling error or a typo.
Are you sure you are using a font that has umlauts?

This is not a bug; Euros use a dot between Euros and Cents, right?
It's not gnucash's fault that the keyboard puts a comma where you want
a period.  (You can always put one hand on the keypad and the other on
the "dot".)
