FWIW, I went swimming this morning, the water was nice and cool and
nobody bothered me :P

I do plan to go back Sunday, departing at 7:00 AM from the dorm.

Why? There is a rule for a reason, is it too hard to respect it?
Having done this unintentionally in the past is fine but now that you

I feel like your message spawns from a concern for my (and other people's) safety and I thank you for it.

It's true that water can be treacherous and that services like life guards are important and do save lives.

My goal wasn't to break rules just for the fun of it and it is good to be reminded that being overconfident in one's skill can be dangerous, especially in a new place.
