The most common method of removing studs is to double nut it.  That is,
screw a nut down on the exposed threads then screw a second nut down on top
of the first.  Use two wrenches to tighten the nuts together.  Then use a
wrench on the first nut to try to loosen the stud.  In theory, the second
nut will keep the first from loosening and allow it to turn the stud.
