Charlie, If your mast has the configuration to do what I did, I highly recommend it. I bought a roll of grey self fusing silicon tape off eBay. I think I bought 1 1/2 inch wide tape.
I carefully wrapped the tape around the mast and collar with generous overlaps. Once wrapped, I sealed the track slot with LifeSeal. Absolutely NO leakage in 15+ years. Still looks good. Touche' does have Spartite so there's little movement.
