Rich,

Not much went wrong. Freshwater pump fried, baby stay car bolts sheared,
broken head lid, wind unit at mast head deciding to go sideways (huh?), and not
much else.

But...the boat was wet. I thought I had buttoned her up for the 2011 race,
but the Gulf Stream really worked her. We were in the SE meander for 15+
hours and it was rough with high winds (30-50) and cross seas. The hull to
deck joint, submerged often by heeling and solid water over the decks,
deposited water in lockers (the most, of course, in my sons locker where he
stowed his laptop...ugh).

I would like some feedback from the group as to how much I should tighten each
bolt...1/2 turn? Full turn?

Dave, that sounds more like it! How did your boat come through the race and
return trip?

Howzabout...

11.8 knots through the water (without surfing) at
3:30 am with torrential rains (Gulf Stream weather) whilst everyone else
 is sleeping soundly down below.

Or...listening to a VHF
exchange 150 miles from US coast between 2 boats during a very squally
day. One losing its rudder (top bearing gave way) and could possibly
sink. The other planning on picking them up via a liferaft exchange.
Crew transferred safely, boat eventually towed in.

Or coming back Thursday and being part of a 35 boat Sunflower raft on Saturday
(tried to send with a cool pic but it is stuck in e-mail purgatory)
