Been there and done that. Will never go back to a stainless slide in an aluminum boom.

I got an extrusion and end fittings from Charleston Spars, put a 2 foot Harken Ball bearing outhaul track on the end, a six part block outhaul inside the boom, and love it compared to having to run up on the deck and crank a little winch on the boom. Also gave me an opportunity to add a foot to the short boom.
