Joel, I've also heard quite a few recommendations for the whole offshore crew to have advanced medical training. No matter how good the first aid bag is and how good your wife is, what if she is the one injured? AEDs are also becoming a regular addition to offshore kits. I recommend it.
You can also talk to you family practitioner they can provide recommendations and prescriptions for necessary additions.
