I will second the butyl tape recommendation. I removed my cabin top hatch this weekend. The original butyl tape was solidly adhered to the hatch and deck. I was able to separate it from the deck with a putty knife, but it took a fair amount of force. A long time ago I used Pompanette's "hatch tape" on my foredeck hatch and have had several seeps around the edges. It will get rebedded with butyl soon.
