Charlie,

Had to do this on Perception II our C&C 33-II. I sourced the Teflon ring and
pin thru South Shore Yachts (http://southshoreyachts.com/)

The top of the rudder post has a threaded hole in it, I purchased an eye bolt
that fitted the threads (3/8” I think but would need to check) used the halyard
attached to the bolt to hold the rudder up while we worked on it. The pin was
bent so we had to cut it to get it out tried a sawz all but a hack saw worked
better. We removed the small screw that holds the pin and then tapped it out.
Installed the Teflon ring, inserted the pin ( we marked it to make lining the
screw hole easier) used a small awl or screw driver to align the screw hold
put the screw back, and we were done.

This was done in the water.

Any problems getting hold of Rob at South Shore let me know – I’ll be visiting
his yacht club this weekend – and usually see him when we are there. Contact me
if you have any questions …..

Subject: Stus-List top rudder post washer

After a beautiful sail yesterday in Narragansett Bay by Fort Adams (site of
this year's NE Rendezvous - still room to sign up..), I noticed that a piece
of the white teflon (?) plastic ring around the rudder post had come off. It
is located under the helm seat hump and the 2 horizontal pegs that stick out
from the side of the top of the rudder post ride on the ring. The ring body is
about a half inch wide and about 1/8 inch thick. It is secured by screws.

Any leads on: 1. where to get replacement, 2 how to replace and 3. whether
this can be done without dropping the rudder?

Thanks for any tips.
