Another option if you decide to remove the pedestal to have it painted, price a new pedestal, maybe the newer style? Just sayin.

Previous boat - I had the pedestal Awlgrip'd, it came out well but I chipped the damn paint while installing it. Powder coating was 1/2 the price I paid for the Awlgrip job, and looks good so far.
