I second that response...

We left when our oldest kid was 11 and our younger 2 were 9.  Which was
perfect - because kids are old enough to enjoy it, participate in life
aboard, and you don't have to worry so much about them.  They're also young
enough that they still like hanging out with their parents.   It's also the
most common age for cruising kids, so there are lots of friends around.
The only problem was that we came back too soon.  Should have stayed out
for at least another year.

If you don't have kids... go now.

If you're retired... go now.

The boat will NEVER be ready and you'll NEVER have enough money... you've
just got to get off the dock.  It's freakin' hard to do, but you'll be glad
you did.
