On my old Catalina, I changed the boot stripe from brown to blue using Brightside. On that boat, there were parts of the stripe in the water most of the time, and every year much of the paint would come off when she got power washed in the fall. I spoke to the Interlux people and they said that no stripe paint on the market would stand up to being below waterline for any length of time. In response, I switched to vinyl tape. That was still going strong when I sold her 5 years later. I would definitely go the vinyl route again.
