Digging up this old thread. My question about the boot stripes is about prep. My stripes are the original (gelcoat?) and badly faded/oxidized. I have three stripes, blue, blue and red. The red is actually vinyl tape and I've ordered one of those 3m stripe off wheels for that. The two blues are different, one lighter than the other. I'll be using brightside and 3m fine line tape and I will also use the primer.
But how do I prep to ensure that there is no wax or residue before going on with the primer? The guy at the store told me to sand but I don't know about that. I'll do it if it's the correct course of action.
