Yeah Steve, Your complaint drew a lot of responses. It was fun to learn that Rhode Island has no tax on boats! Amazing. I had to pay 7% state sales tax upon registration here in New Jersey plus an extra $80 to the USCG to change owner and homeport on my documentation. But it doesn't make you feel better to read that, does it?

I do think that I live in the best country in the world and I'm happy to pay for the privilege. Around here the message lately is that Torontonians will vote in a gerbil as long as it saves them a buck on taxes. But I digress... If you bought from a broker I don't understand why they aren't responsible to collect and remit this tax.
