NADA does seem to be quite limited but at the same time could give a
good measure of relative worth between models. BUC Value seems a lot
better

I did a quick check on NADA and it seems to really be missing a lot of
info that should go a long way to identify a good vs a bad model of a
baot and its relative worth. There is no place to enter sails or their
age, the electronics also does not indicate age. To me a boat that has
very recent sails, electronics and other upgrades is a boat that is
often well taken care of in many areas. OTOH a boat that has original
25+ YO sails and electronics likely has origibnal cushions and
everything else and likely has had less maintenance done over recent
years and would therefore be worth less than one that has. Particularly
if the new (less than 3 years old) sails and electronics match with the
buyers needs or wants as that saves a ton of money after the purchase.

Steve,
I found NADA
http://www.nadaguides.com/Boats/Sailboats
online at some point. If I understand it correctly these are the values

that insurance companies and banks will place on a boat - sort of a
"black book value"
I realize that the prices may not be accurate to Canada or different
regions - but I use it as a rough approximation of relative value
between boats as well as a rough estimate of the price of a boat.
