Jake, I don't have any (useful) pictures of inside the bilge sump, but have some of the external work. I've included a link below - please let me know if you have any issues accessing it.
Derek, My crack was much smaller than yours (I convinced myself it was paint-only for a couple of years), and right at the curve as the hull turns down into the keel sump. The keel sump itself (where your crack is) should be solid, not cored, so that should make any repair less complicated / expensive ($15k in my case). Grinding out the crack and re-fairing won't work; grinding out and exposing the entire damage then tapering the edges and adding several layers of glass will add the strength back. That shouldn't be a (very) big job. You have to wonder what caused the crack though - was it grounding, or have other parts of the keel sump softened / left this as an area of stress? I would get someone with a moisture meter to check the hull above and outboard of the sump, and check all the tabbing in the sump area - you may see some lifting off at the corners, which would be a problem. https://plus.google.com/u/0/101312290967793013089/posts/SqQDhFaLwmi Tim Mojito C&C 35-3 Branford, CT On Sat, Aug 10, 2013 at 8:31 AM, Jake Brodersen <captain_j...@cox.net>wrote: > Tim,**** > > ** ** > > I’d love to see your photos as well.
