I thought the rules of racing required it to be attached to the mast.

mast

I keep mine on a couple of rubber brackets attached to the stanchions.
Easier to handle than if it is on the mast.

Subject: Stus-List C&C 33 1985 How to attach Heavy Duty Whisker Pole to mast

I purchased a Heavy duty Forespare whisker pole. I believe i have a place
for track on the front of the mast. However, the slot has plastic all the
way up the mast. Does anyone have an recommendations on attaching this
pole? Is there a way to put a track on the mast? If so how do you do it
and what track would i purchase? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
