My previous boat had a mushroom through-hull fitting as the drain, which meant 1/4" standing water usually. Previous owner made a wooden insert, strangely the continual immersion didn't agree with it. To keep the rode out I made an insert out of rubber snap-together mat material, trimmed to shape. Worked great. I've been meaning to do the same for the C&C but it has not gotten to the top of the list yet.

I pulled my anchor and rode out of the locker today. The line was
wet, and the thimble corroded through. The shackle looks like crap
too. Bought new thimble and shackles. I'm waiting for the line to
dry before I splice it.

I'm thinking of buying a milk crate and cutting it up and laying it in
the bottom of the locker to keep it off the bottom of the locker.
There is a drain, but there is obviously moisture in the locker.
Thoughts?
