Joe, I can remember racing at CRYC in the '70's in I 14's and won in Laser 28's
One Design on the Race over and back. Reed Creek is one of my favorite
anchorages now that I just cruise with my wife. I keep telling her we can race
over and back, just a cruise, but she hates the starts. Maybe next year!

BTW - One of the things that has changed is the family atmosphere around
racing. I basically grew up racing and from age 7 on there were kids my age on
the other boats. That has changed for the most part.
BUT WAIT!
The Corsica River Yacht Club (my club wink wink) has a great annual regatta
with kids all over the place, beer, food, a band, and a great facility with two
beaches. For one designs we race around the river and the "big boats" come over
from Baltimore Light. We are looking to include a "Good Old Boat" class this
year for the older casual racers along with the standard PHRF class. This race
is great if you want to actually GO SOMEPLACE instead of going back and forth
doing W/Ls. I am the PRO for this and hope to get some of you out for it.
*even if you don't race, show up anyway
