Harry,
I repainted Touche' last year. Happy with the decision and the outcome. I did
most of the preparation myself.
There were some issues however. After hours of preparation, a test spray of
the paint did not adhere well. This resulted in the decision to sand off all
the previous coats of paint. This was done in 2 days with a Hutchins air
sander. Turned out to be a good decision as it smoothed out blemishes, post
cure shrinkage patterns and other imperfections in the hull. 3 coats of high
build primer was applied before the top coat of AwlCraft 2000. The result was
a very smooth, very shiny hull after all was done.
I'd be happy to answer any questions off list.

>About a month ago I was looking at a
replacement boat for MIRAGE.
After many hours and conversations, it became apparent that “the new boat”
was not within my means. David R. pretty much convinced me to hang on to
her. So…MIRAGE is going
indoors today to begin a deck and topside repaint. I’m sure I’ll
have questions along the way!
