Also make SURE it reads AIS data. *THAT* is a deal breaker!

As long as you won't be killing yourself over no NMEA 2000. (which I don't have 
either)
IMHO if it requires holes or custom mounts, NEVER go just for price. BTDT

Okay I just got off the phone with the GPS store.  He said "for the price, it's 
fine unit"  Add in the C-Map Max charts which are $180... it sounds very 
inexpensive...

Yes, Si-Tex has been around for a while, but mostly in the inexpensive radar 
and fishfinder side of things.  Caveat emptor...
