Am I going overboard with the radar aspect...we do deal with some fog in these 
parts...

Last fall I looked at the E7, 740 and Simrad without radar.  Check
prices at the gps store.  I ordered the E7 from them at the Annapolis
boat show.  Much cheaper than Defender.

I went with Ray for 2 reasons - 3 year warranty and I liked having a
physical cursor.  Its more precise than the touch screen.

The E7 was brand new last year.  Can't imagine its being changed.
Don't know if the E9 and E12 are out yet, but that may affect the
pricing.

FWIW that's my 2 cents.
