Mine a are shackled to the toe rail a few inches forward of the rear chock.
They have 4:1 block with a cam cleat. There are also blocks which allow a
fair lead to either the primary winch or cabin top.

Genrally we lead them to the cabin top winches and the pit main adjusts
them upwind when we tack. As they are offset from the centerline you need
to be careful you don't pull the mast to windward. Before I had my rig
tuned well this would happen. The mast man will eye the mast to make sure
we don't do this.

In heavier air upwind with the baby stay on and downwind we don't put as
much tension on, generally just enough tension on to steady the mast if it
is moving around.
