On our 34, there is a stainless rod attaching the babystay track to the
keel.  It is much like your shrouds.  It is located in the forward v berth
area just forward of the bulkhead for the head.  The upper end is attached
to a bolt which is through the deck and track, the lower end is screwed
through the floor into the forward edge of the keel.  There is a turnbuckle
for adjustment.  Without this rod, the babystay tension would pull the track
out of the deck.

berth.any pics? Could lone use high tech rope? How was it attached. To the
