I have not tried crunchbang in a couple of years, so I cannot really help with the specifics of how crunchbang configures things.
For me it connects to localhost:8080, chances are the hostname "crunchbang" is not resolving (from the command line type "host crunchbang"), if you get an error or IP that is not your machine, then this is the problem.
