I use Slackware/SLAMD64 when I want to create an appliance.  If the box
is never gonna be maintained then it's a candidate.  

My Desktop & laptop don't fall into this category because OpenOffice
upgrades, Firefox upgrades etc.

What does fall into this category are print/webserver/samba servers etc.
