Hi all, I'm running clamscan on Debian Linux, using ver 0.93 with latest definitions.
I was scanning a mounted windows partition using clamscan -i -r /mnt/Windows and came across the LibClamAV Warning: RAR code not compiled-in So i added --unrar=/usr/bin/unrar clamscan -i -r --unrar=/usr/bin/unrar /mnt/Windows and still got the LibClamAV Warning: RAR code not compiled-in so i put a .rar file in its own folder and did clamscan * just for that single file got the LibClamAV Warning: RAR code not compiled-in then used clamscan --unrar=/usr/bin/unrar it unrared the file to a temp folder got no warnings and was told the file was ok So i thought i'd test clamscan with the Eicar virus. i went to http://www.rexswain.com/eicar.html and downloaded the .com .txt .zip and 2.zip files, put them in my test folder and did a simple clamscan * and got back debian-Lappy:/home/mrsmiley/ClamAV_Rar_Test_File# clamscan * LibClamAV Warning: RAR code not compiled-in clam.rar: OK eicar.com: OK eicarcom2.zip: OK eicar.com.txt: OK eicar_com.zip: OK Now, isn't this a bit worrying, so say the least ???? Are there any other files i can test clamscan with ???? Are my current virus scans safe if I'm told all is ok ??? Many thanks in advance Ken __________________________________________________________ Not happy with your email address?.
