Hello, I intend on porting CDE/Motif 2.1 to SVR4 and possibly other niche platforms, so I’ve set up a branch at https://github.com/lev105/cde-imake/ so as to not interfere with the good work here to get CDE up to date with the autotools suite, etc.
Without being able to test on a SVID3-compliant OS, it’s difficult for me to be able to gauge which changes risk worsening compatibility with older systems, and CDE is a wonderful, lightweight desktop for them. Like a lot of other folks, this will be something I balance in a small amount of free time, but I hope these efforts will be useful for others. I’ve already got fairly extensive changes to support compiling CDE on platforms without XPG internationalization, and I am going to try getting fixes upstream for CDE and ksh93 (looks like musl support has already been committed) if they fit within their respective roadmaps. Maybe I could adopt imake if there wouldn’t be any objection?
