The first VAX 11/780 I used came with 512 KB of memory.  One Friday afternoon, it crashed and I ran diags and found a memory board had died, and pulled the bad one out.  We had to run on 256KB over the weekend until DEC could come out and swap it.  It ran a HUGE finite element analysis.  I warned everybody to restrict number of logons and other processes.

Your just lucky no one decided to run the Ada compiler.  Nothing
can bring a VAX to its knees better than that.  Not even Eunice!!
