It is safe tou use rounded up values, because all transport systems
(SONET or SDH) add some overhead. However, to make 100% sure in the
real lab, ask the proctor.
TDM Speeds (US and European PDH)
DS0 = 64 Kb/s (it is usually referred to 1 timeslot in TDM)
DS1/T1 = 1500 Kb/s (US PDH)
E1 = 2000 Kb/s (European PDH)
DS3/T3 = 45000 Kb/s (US PDH)
E3 = 34000 Kb/s (European PDH)
US SONET/European SDH:
OC3/STM-1 = 155000 Kb/s
OC12/STM-4 = 622000 Kb/s
OC48/STM-16 = 2500000 Kb/s
OC192/STM-64 = 10000000 Kb/s
Note that SONET and SDH speeds are identical, while US PDH and
European PDH are not.

Hi All,
After I have been through the practice lab. I noticed
that I face the term that refer to the speed of the link. I have
jotted it down here. Any more inputs are appreciated.
DS1 = 1.544MB
DS3 = 45 MB
OC3 = 155 MB
OC12 = 622 MB
OC48 = 2.5GB
OC192 = 10 GB
I try to find the reference in univercd. As follow;
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/ong/15400/r70docs/r70refmn/r70spcx.htm#wp1071265
Go to univercd à
Optical Networking Systems
Cisco ONS 15454 SONET
Cisco ONS 15454 User Documentation, Release 7.0
Cisco ONS 15454 Reference Manual, Release 7.0
Appendix A, Hardware Specifications
I have found that the exactly number is in the decimal
notation amount. Not the full amount as I list above.
Such DS3 = Bit rate: 44.736 Mbps +/- 20 ppm
OC3 = Bit rate: 155.52 Mbps
OC12 = Bit rate: 622.08 Mbps
But most of the practice lab that I have done, The
solution use full amount. What will u use for the real lab?

Marut
