I just got done reading that article, I pasted my response to it on his website
below.
So I have a few more things to add/ask. Wendell goes into the "learning curve"
of the GUI interface, and says there is NO tutorial beforehand so you lose some
time trying to get used to it. What do you think about this? Do you think it's
worth doing diagrams still? Also, what I worry about is speed. I am working on
my speed, and I am moderately quick but I am thorough as well so obviously I
have to work on that as well. Who here is a little stressed on this?
Michael Lipsey, I know you are taking your lab soon what are your thoughts
(just a few days away I know)?
Anyone else? I am at least 6 months away from a lab attempt, going to do my
written by next month and by time I get to the lab it will have time to "cook"
and I'll get more input.

My response to Wendell:
"Hey Wendell, this is great feedback. I have
heard of the elusive lab book disappearing in favor of the new
"electronic" lab book. I hope I can get around that. Before, you could
put a piece of paper above the actual lab sheets and "trace" out a
topology and quickly put labels on it.
So now I wonder if it's worth even making what I call a "summary
diagram" - meaning I like to see everything that's going on what
routers are connected to what switches, the interfaces and a little
about what RP's are on there and what's going on in the background. I
realize this may take more time now I have to fumble with the GUI.
I am preparing heavily for the v4.0 written as we speak so I am
around 6 months + from a lab attempt. I wonder how they will tweak it
or if this is the "final" version?
Thanks again, awesome article and you are the man.

Hi guys,

I just wanted to share an interesting write-up on v4.0 by Wendell
Odom: http://www.networkworld.com/community/node/46561

User interface thing is ... a bit unnerving.
