I think that too. But then again, maybe it's there so one can save the text non-complete and then when one is ready make it available. > > Nah, I speak neither. It does not seem to install GRUB so I cannot boot the system. I downloaded a GRUB image (0.97), and boot with "-boot a -fda grub.img". I execute the following commands on the GRUB prompt: root (hd0,0) kernel /boot/gnumach.gz root=hd0s1 module /boot/servers.boot And after some boot messages I get: Loading single multiboot module in compat mode: /boot/servers.boot panic: Cannot load user-bootstrap image: error code 6000 > The following page might prove useful if you decide to use Debian > GNU/Hurd: http://www.gnu.org/software/hurd/hurd/running/qemu.html . > Yep, that's the guide I've been following. Although it's a bit outdated since I use version L1, not K16 (and I use the mini-version). I hoped they would install pre-configured GRUB by default by now, but no. The guide does not describe what commands to execute in GRUB though. PS: I'm subscribed to the list, so it's not necessary to CC me. /Patrik
