I already said it more or less, but maybe it helps if I restate it more explicitely: The main reason I'm interested in the Hurd, is that I believe it to be a better platform for implementing my ideas regarding more efficient and powerful desktop environments. (While at the same time -- unlike Plan9 for example -- keeping UNIX (GNU) compatibility.) Having an official GNU kernel is also somewhat of a motivation for me. -antrik-
