The possibility to customize things that lie at deepest levels in other operating systems makes the Hurd a kind of a playground for me. Under the Hurd one can find out quite easily what are the building blocks out of which one's operating system is constructed and change some of these blocks to see what will happen ;-) Also, I consider that the Hurd is a very good learning ground for me: during GSoC a learnt a lot of new things, many of which I hadn't even heard of before. And such things are still falling on me out of the blue sky giving me further enthusiasm :-) scolobb
