I drink a lot of carbonated mineral water because I like the fizzy drink, but I don't want to consume that much sugar (and I hate artificial sweeteners).
An old friend of mine who used to be in the merchant navy (junior engineer on crappy oil tankers under flags of convenience) claimed that the terrible state of his teeth (they were crumbling - bits used to break off and he'd spit them out) was due to drinking distilled water for months at a time at sea. Or it might have been because he never went to the dentist...
