Hello birders....
I was pleasantly surprised to find a BOREAL CHICKADEE in Bruce Peninsula
National Park this
afternoon. The bird was along the Bruce Trail between the Grotto and Marr Lake
area, accessible from
the Cyprus Lake access.

Boreal Chickadees are not resident on the Bruce Peninsula and are very rarely
found here.

In other local birding news, there are decent numbers of waterbirds around the
upper Bruce
Peninsula, including RED-NECKED GREBES, COMMON LOONS, WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS,
RING-NECKED DUCKS and
HOODED MERGANSERS. Feeders in Tobermory have been inundated with flocks of
AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES and
PINE SISKINS. A few EVENING GROSBEAKS and COMMON REDPOLLS have also shown up in
the past couple
days.

Directions:
Take Highway 6 north up the Bruce Peninsula. Tobermory is at the end of the
road. The Cyprus Lake
turnoff for Bruce Peninsula National Park is 12km south of Tobermory.

Happy birding!
Ethan Meleg (Tobermory)
