Hello Heitor,

I'm well aware that that the scan will load each tape into the drive,
that's why I usually update only the slots that were changed using the

"slots=3,5,8" option for instance.

Bacula definitely does not return to a working state once all the
slots have been scanned, we've had it sitting doing nothing for an
entire weekend blocking all the other backups (the update scan command
usually completes within a couple of minutes depending on the number
of slots being affected).

I don't really see the advantage in using barcodes (I don't even think
our library supports them ATM) as we've developed a decent workflow
for our offline backups over the years without them. 

I'll look into their usage further, in the meantime it would be nice
if bacula wouldn't lock up for days using the "acquire" dance ;)
