Those are the good first steps. Hopefully, all else is good too. Does load, loaded, and unload work? Permissions are another issue. Can Bacula access /dev/sg4, for example? Can bacula-sd run mtx-changer? label barcodes? That is the read test! If all the commands work, no training is required. Sometimes, you need to add a sleep 120 (or similar value) to give the tape library time to settle after a tape load. Sometimes not. It varies. Best practice is to run the btape tests first.
